The department of history started functioning ever  since the inception of the  College in the year 2019 the Sanctioned strength of B.A(history) students is 60.

It has a succession of well qualified and experienced staff right from the  beginning  of the college.

5. DEPARTMENT LIBRARY

A Reference section in the department is maintained. It contains a few reference Books mostly in English medium, some books on general knowledge, personality  Development, maps and charts etc. It has also a few magazines, news paper cuttings Relating to history,CDs on the places of tourist importance for the use of students. The Department subscribes to THE HINDU news paper for the use of the students.

The department acquired 20 maps showing the subjects related information for Ready   reference.From time to time the department provides study material to the students Especially for the final years with a view to prepare them for PG and professional  Courses such as M.A, B.Ed, and to some other competitive examinations like A.P.P.S.C, U.P.S.C etc.

6. Eavluation of students

The department periodically conducts unit tests, assignments as per the instructions of the principal. The valued scripts are shown to the students. It advises the slow learners or the non-performers to improve their performance. It suggests tips to  the students to score the maximum marks in the final examinations.

Remedial classes are conducted for slow learners and advanced learners areEncouraged to participate in seminars and group discussions.   

The department conducts student seminars with special emphasis on final year Outgoing students. Informal group discussions during lecturing there by motivating the Students to take active part in the learning process. Comparative study of on contemporary national and state level events vis-à-vis the past history.

          The department records the performance of the students in unit / half yearly / hope examinations in the department marks register as Well as central marks register.

          The Department organizes historical tours and tours to places of religious and historical places every year.

8.PROJECT WORKS/ SURVEYS:

                                     As most the students are first generation learners from remote and backward part of the state, they are initially motivated and guided to undertake study tours, projects with in the Vicinity of the college and their respective villages in a modest way.

so far the dept conducted the following study tours/projects.

1.socio-Religious,Economicsurvey on the visiting Tourists/devotees on the famous Punyagiri Temple on festive Days on 08-03-2005.

2.Study Tour to Bojjanna Konda and Lingala Konda popularly known as SANKARAM near Anakapalli during October2005

3. Study tour to Borra Cavesin the Eastern Ghats durings september 2006

.4.Study Tour to Sanyasayyapalem Temple during December 2006.

5.Study Tour to Kottam Temple during 2006

6.Study project by Name:MY VILLAGE

 

 

 

9.EXTENSION ACTIVITY:

The students of the dept take active part in all the activities of the college such as Janmaboomi, Micro Survey, Clean and Green programmes.

The dept undertake the cleaning the water tanks of Punyagiri villages and college over head tank with bleachng  powder and white washing

  11.CURRICULAR&CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

                            The Dept. Organized guest lectures with eminent personalities in the field fromUniversity and 1st grade degree collages

1.R.Challmnaidu Lecturer in History, Punyagiri Degree College, S.Kota delivered a lecture on participation of  Women in Freedom Struggle.

2.Dept. Student participation in the Industrial Tour to Visakhapatnam Steel plant along with other student of the collage.

The Department motivated Two Senior Student of III B.A class to organize quiz programme on History for I & II B.A students.

 

13.FUTURE PLANS   

 Propose to organize a Zonal Conference on the Utility of History as one of  the Career Opportunity to motivate the Younger Generations to opt for Social Sciences Particularly History as one of the subjects.

 

  1. Organize a Free Study Centre in History to the students appearing for Competitive exams conducted by UPSC &APPSC.

 

  1. Propose to organize more number of tours and inculcate in them idea of taking tourism as one of the vocations which has a great potential for employment.Success rate of students in B.A History
