Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) - Govt Degree College Gajapathinagaram

Profile

 Women Empowerment Cell was constituted under the Chairmanship of the Principal of this college, Dr.R.Satyanarayana .  The cell has been addressing the needs of the women staff and girl students in the college.The Government Degree College Gajapathinagaram has nearly 125 students in UG  Courses. Hence WEC has been striving hard to protect and safe guard their Rights by organising various events, counselling and awareness programmes on career guidance, Health and Education to ensure their all-round development.

 

Women Empowerment Cells (WECs)  play a pivotal role in promoting gender equality and creating a supportive environment for female students and staff. Their primary duties include:.

     1. Gender Sensitization: Orgizing awareness programs to educate the college community about gender issues, aiming to foster a culture of respect and equality. 

  1. Health and Wellness Initiatives: Conducting workshops and seminars on women's health topics, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and mental welbeing, to empower won with knowledge about theibodies and health. 

  2. Skill Development: Providing tining sessions to enhance skills like self-defense, leadership, and entrepreneurship, enabling women to navigate various challenges confidently.

  3. Legal Awareness: Edu cating women about their legal rights and protections to ensure they are informed and can advocate for themselves in situations of discrimination or harassment. 

  4. Counseling and Support: Offering a safe space for female students and staff to discuss issues they face, providing guidance, and facilitating aess to professional unseling services when necesry. 

  5. Cultural and Educationalrograms: Organizinents that celebrate women's achievements and contributions, as well as educational programs that highlight the importance of women's empowerment in society. 

  6. Community Outreach: Engaging in activities that extend support to women in the broader community, thereby fostering a sense of solidarity and shared purpose. 

 

By fulfilling these duties, Women Empowerment Cells aim to create an inclusive and empowering environment within educational institutions, contributing to the overall development and success of women in academia and beyond.
