BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:

      The Department of Physics, Government Degree College, GajapathinagaramVizianagaramdist, was established in the year 2019, as a result of sanction of Science sections having  M. P. C (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry,computer science) group. It is affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. It is one of the Government Degree College in the entire district of Vizianagaram. Initially the department faced all the juvenile problems with regard to insufficient staff, accommodation, and laboratory equipment. But gradually, the position improved in all the important aspects of the Department.

     The department started with sanctioning of Two Lecturer posts. Sri Budi.Atchin Naidu appointed as Guest lecturer in physics on Temperery basin on 09/10/2023. 

     The department has one well equipped laboratory. The Department carrying instruction in Telugu and Medium with Mathematics, Chemistry and Computer Science.

Posts Sanctioned:02

       At the time of sanctioning of science section with the combination of Mathematics, Chemistry and Computer Science two Physics posts were sanctioned. These two posts are being continued till now. Non – teaching posts were not sanctioned. From the Academic year 2023-24, as per New Education Policy 2020, Physics is the minor subject for Chemistry programme.
